Martin Vingaard and Dame Ndoye fired FC Copenhagen to a comfortable 2-0 win at the Parken Stadium to dump CFR Cluj out of the Europa League. Cluj went into the match needing a win under new manager Andrea Mandorlini to stay in the competition. But Vingaard put Copenhagen ahead in the 37th minute and when Ndoye made it 2-0 two minutes before the break there looked to be no way back for the Romanians. Cluj, bottom of Group K, had beaten the Danes in their opening group match, but Copenhagen, unbeaten in seven matches at home, were eager for revenge. Cluj started the match brightly enough and Yssouf Kone tried his luck from 20 yards in the fourth minute without troubling Copenhagen goalkeeper Johan Wiland. Lacina Traore and Sebastian Dubarbier might have done better with efforts for Cluj before Vingaard made the breakthrough, firing home a 20-yard strike from a Zdenek Pospech cross. Ndoye doubled the Danes' lead when he rattled home a 35-yard free-kick six minutes later after Cadu had fouled Vingaard and been booked by referee Darko Ceferin. Augusto Andre Leao headed over from six yards a minute into the second half, squandering a chance to give Cluj some hope. Soares Dani picked up a yellow card for a foul on Atiba Hutchinson in the 52nd minute as the midfield battle heated up. Former Chelsea winger Jesper Gronkjaer was replaced by Ailton Jose Almeida after 70 minutes and almost immediately Ndoye might have a grabbed his second of the night but headed wide from six yards. Vingaard forced a save from Cluj goalkeeper Nuno Claro two minutes later. Cluj, prompted by midfielder Juan Emmanuel Culio, kept battling to the bitter end and five minutes from time it needed a brilliant save from Wiland to keep out an effort from Dubarbier. Vingaard was replaced by former Manchester City defender Niclas Jensen a minute from time.
