Marcio Davtchev became unavailable for last two matches of Bulgaria in preliminaries of EURO 2008, against Romania (17 November, at Sofia ) and Slovenia (21 November, away), because of muscular problems appeared at the training from Thursday. Davtchev is playing at Lokomotiv Sofia and he is the topscorer of Bulgarian championship, with 9 goals.
Coach Dimitar Penev declared that meeting with Romania is very important for the future of national team of Bulgaria. "Even we are almost eliminated, we want to win this match and to prove that we aren't an weak team and that we can beat Romania. I heard that I will not be anymore the coach of Bulgaria after these preliminaries, but I haven't talked yet with the chairman of Bulgarian FA", said the coach. He also talked about the threats of Bulgarian fans against the Romanians: "I read in newspapers that it's possible to happen something like this, but I don't think so. I hope the fans will come to stadium just to watch a football match".
Martin Petrov, the star of Bulgaria, said that "we must beat Romanians. They are qualified already at Euro 2008 and this will be our little reward of consolation. In this way they succeeded to win only a single point in front of ours in these preliminaries".
Goalkeeper Dimitar Ivankov (Kayserispor) declared that Romanians exaggerated with their negative attitude against Bulgarians and the wish of his team is to win tomorrow. "We still have chances to qualify, but it is hard to believe that something can be done now. We want to make a good match tomorrow, to satisfy our fans and to beat Romania", said the goalkeeper.
Petar Zanev: "We know one thing, that it's our duty to win, to prove that we aren't a second hand team. And this can be proved only in the matches against big teams, like Romania. I would like to come more fans at the stadium, but I am sure that most of them will stay home, in front of TV. It's normal to be upset, because we failed to qualify... But no matter how much fans will come tomorrow, we will play for them. We hope to obtain a good result and to send them a <thank you> in this way".
According to Bulgarian newspaper "Meridian Match", the fans of CSKA and Levski Sofia, together with those from Botev Plovdiv, want to organize an ambush against the Romanian fans. "In Balgarski Izvor village, at the half of the distance between Loveci and Sofia, the huligans threaten that will break the heads of Romanians and that it will be a blood bath caused by the affronts of Mutu and Romanian journalists", wrote "Meridian Match". According to the newspaper, the hosts will have on stadium a banner with the message "Welcome, gypsies of Balkans!".
The Bulgarians didn't train on "Vasil Levski" stadium after the snowfall from week-end. "Nobody will enter on the field, we protect it", said the manager of the stadium, so Berbatov and his colleagues had to train on Tuesday on the field of Levski and yesterday on the field of Slavia. Coach Penev exploded: "Our national team is like an orphan. We are going to play where the good people let us. The trainings should be close, probably our opponents saw them. It's ridiculous".
The chances that Bulgaria to qualify at Euro 2008 are SF, because except their victories in front of Romania and Slovenia, they also need that Netherlands to lose both matches against Luxembourg (home) and Belarus (away), which is impossible. So, Bulgarians want now just to beat Romania, for pride, and to wait then the draw for the World Cup from South Africa.
