Adrian Mutu will be unavailable for next three weeks, after he suffered an injury. "On Monday morning, Mutu made more analysis and it seems that he has a lesion at femural muscle from right foot. Recovery period is estimated at three weeks", appeared on the official site of Fiorentina. Because of that, Pițurcă called on Monday the striker of Poli Timișoara, Gigel Bucur, to replace Mutu.
Because Ștefan Radu couldn't be recovered after the problems he has at left thigh, coach Pițurcă decided to renounce at the player of Dinamo. In his place was called Mihai Neșu, the defender of Steaua.
The match with Luxembourg was the single from these preliminaries when Pițurcă couldn't count on Adrian Mutu. But the striker of Fiorentina remained in Italy and the coach is looking for solutions. The striker of CFR 1907 Cluj scored in this season 7 goals in 15 matches, more than his colleagues Didi and Fabbiani. "I want to play at Sofia , because of that I was called at the squad and I would like to score at least one goal against Bulgarians", said the 31-year-old striker. Trică debuted at national team in 1999, against Estonia, but till now he has played just three matches.
"The match against Bulgaria isn't so important for us anymore. Of course, we want to make a good match and to return home undefeated. I know that there is ambition between the two teams. The team is prepared, is motivated, even if we are qualified already. We want to finish these preliminaries undefeated, which would be a great performance. I don't want revenge tomorrow after the match from Constanta (2-2). It will be just a match between two neighbour countries", declared coach Victor Pițurcă.
National team of Romania will be accompanied at Sofia by 250 fans. 150 will go on their own in Bulgaria, and the rest in organized groups, with buses. Because most of the tourism firms refused to send buses in Bulgaria, being afraid of the damages which could be made by the fans of Bulgaria, the fans of Romania will make the departure with buses with number of Turkey.
Romania must obtain maximum of points to be sure that will be in second group of value at the draw fro EC 2008, from Lucerna. So, the last two matches are very important, because Romania is now on second place, after Croatia, Netherland and Sweden, in the table of last two preliminaries. The advantage to be in second group of value is that Romania would avoid opponents like Netherlands, Sweden and Germany. Except that, Romania also has a revenge to take in front of Bulgaria, team which eliminated us at Euro 92, beat us at Euro 96 and especially insulted us in first leg, even in Romania, when coach Stoichkov said that Romanians are gypsies and spineless. Mutu was insulted by all the newspapers from Bulgaria , but he will miss tomorrow and can't give a lesson to Bulgarians...
