Historical note:
Sportul Studențesc Iași was formated on 27 April 1945, and after a month, on 31 May 1945 was changed the name in AS Politehnica Iași. With this name it participates on first post-war edition in Division B - Seria II - 1946-47, occupying position 12 from 14. In 1948 became Clubul Sportiv Universitar (University Sport Club) and in 1950 Știința (The Science). With new name students from Iași activated just in Division B, the best place occupyed beeing 4, in 1957-58 season. On 1 August 1958 Știința fused with CFR Iași, resulting Clubul Sportiv Muncitoresc Studențesc (Student's Working Sport Club). After place 5 occupyed in 1958-59 CSMS it promoted for the first time in Division A in 1959-60. It relegated in next season but returned during one year. The next five years activated in Division A after it relegated again. For the last time it changed the name in Politehnica Iași (Politehnics Iași). In summer 1968 "Poli" promoted for the third time in first division. After other four years in elite, Moldavians relegated, returning for the four time in Division A in 1981-82. In the eight years in Division A, the best classification was in 1976-77 and 1979-80, place 8. Another year in Division B and it succeeded the five promotion. In season 1984-85 "Poli" returned in Division B where it remained till 1995. Last adventure in Division A (1995-96) was after a play-off with Electroputere Craiova after famous case "Trifina-Cănănău".
